Yearning For The Yukon
It’s difficult to think of the Yukon as a tourist destination when our idea of this territory is a cold and snowy wilderness! True enough, the Yukon can be cold and snowy thanks to its northerly location and the fact that it has an arctic and sub-arctic climate so if you want to visit in the summer, you only have a short window in which to do it. To be honest, I would like to visit the Yukon in both the summer and the winter to really get a true feel for our most north westerly regions of land, and […]
Yukon Overview
There really is a land where sunrise and sunset lasts for hours in a beautiful red haze, where in the summer, days are long enough to read outside at 11 pm or go fishing at midnight. The Yukon is a Canadian secret waiting to be discovered. Although only two thirds of the Yukon’s population lives outside of Whitehorse, the remote regions of the Yukon have so much to offer. They tell the true story of how this territory came to be. The Yukon is home to several mountain chains, a wide variety of wildlife including all three of Canada’s bear […]
Another Magnificent Day in Whitehorse!
Yesterday was the most perfect of days. Everywhere I went people were smiling. It must have something to do with the perfectly sunny weather we are having. The day was bright and balmy, but the night was dramatic, daring, breath-taking, crackling with a most amazing display of Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). They lasted for several hours and we were calling all over town to inform our friends and family that they were on show. Quite often it is not possible to see them if you have too much light pollution from the city, but a short drive to the outskirts […]

The Yukon River system runs through most of the Yukon, and a large number of large, long and narrow glacier-fed alpine lakes flow into it. Much of the population of the territory is First Nations.
